Wow! Time really moves fast. It is already the seventh month of this year. Those of us that believe in starting early will have to start our Xmas shopping soon. LOL Well its a busy time of the year for me. I am the chair person for the 38th Annual UNCF Banquet benefiting The LeMoyne Owen College in Memphis, TN. The banquet is the opening event for the Hank Aaron Celebrity Sports Weekend (HACSW). This weekend encompasses a banquet (Thursday night), golf tournament (Friday morning), a 5K Walk/Run (Friday evening), and Children Breakfast (Saturday morning). We are heavily in the planning stages. We have secured the entertainment for the gala-Randy Crawford and Joe Sample. YEAH!

Have a beautiful week…
It was a wonderful Fourth of July weekend. We bbq’d on Friday and the kids and hubby popped firecrackers. Everyone had a great time. I will upload pictures later.
Sunday we decided to visit Geyser Falls water park in Mississippi. It is about 3 hours away from us. Well of course, it has been extremely hot in Memphis and we failed to check the weather for Philadelphia, MS. Well, it rained. It poured. It rained. There were bouts of showers then eventually we were able to get 2 hours of playing time in the water. It just amazes me what people will wear out in public. It is a water park so you know you will see bikinis, swim suits, and men in swim trunks. Men are normally decent. Its the normal nice bodies, old bodies, young bodies, and beer belly bodies. You know nothing out the norm. But it is us ladies that takes it to the extreme.
Just because it is hanging on your size rack does not mean it fits you properly. Why expose others to what you are carrying underneath your clothing. Someone should have told some of the ladies that that suit does not fit them or that their belly is way to big to be wearing a two piece. I know I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but damn behold all that stuff back into some clothing LOL. I am not hating but sometimes we as women need to take a second look into that mirror before we leave home…
Overall it was a nice trip and we will visit again. If you are anywhere in the Mid-South area (AR, TN, MS) you should visit Geyser Falls. It is a great park with great water rides for the whole family. It is mildly priced *35 dollars for adults kids 3 and under free. There are prices for younger kids and seniors but I do not remember those prices. Visit their site www.geyserfalls.com
Have a wonderful week…
I am doing a lot of research concerning nails and have joined several nail forums. These forums have nail techs on here that have a lot of advice and willingness to help anyone. They showcase some beautiful nails. The website I really like is www.beautytech.com. Its not a dead forum. They ladies are very helpful and eager to give you their opinion (when asked).
I have even made a few friends from the forum. Maybe not friends but people that are willing to help and answer questions concerning nails without it being a bother. Whenever you start something new, you always need a “mentor” of sometype to guide you the inquistive stage. And www.beautytech.com definitely offers you the guidance you need. Go and take a look at this site.
Hello world! Today starts a new chapter in my life. I have decided to start blogging about my life and my journey to entrepreneurship. I am in the process of opening a beauty/barber salon in Memphis, TN. I am completing my MBA studies at Strayer University and will begin training to become a manicurist. The next year will be a busy time for me, but I would like to think it will be a fun and exciting journey. I invite you to take a little peek into my journal with me. Welcome to Sol *without the e* Searching.
This will definitely be a Sol Searching adventure but I am up for the challenge. Are you….
Ok-So I have decided to attend cosmetology school to obtain a mancurist license. With opening a beauty/barber salon in second quarter 2009, I thought about hiring a nail tech. But then I was like, why would you hire someone when you have always wanted to do nails (I should be a pro since I have been wearing overlays for 20 yrs now, wow its been that long). So I did some research on the schools here in Memphis that offered nail training. There are several schools but…always a but. Most only offer the classes in the day and a sista can not quit work to attend nail school LOL. So I had to keep looking. I found one close to my house, but they wanted close to 12K for a 10 mth training. Now remember I am also in graduate school at Strayer University, so I am having to pay for this “hobby” out my pocket so that was definitely not the school I would attend. I got kinda discouraged, but then I found Southern Institute of Cosmetology. The school is located on Perkins and offer a night class and reasonable priced, so it doesn’t break the bank. I start next Tuesday, July 8. I am excited, but we shall see how the body holds up…LOL
