Hurricane Sandy

This week has been a week that we never want to go through. It is a repeat of Hurricane Katrina but on the East coast. The world watched as our friends & family on the East Cost were devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

The floods, the high winds, the power outages are unreal but million of people are dealing with the aftermath of the wrath of Sandy.

We send our prayers & thoughts to everyone effected by this storm. The rebuilding & getting back to normal will take weeks, months & possibly longer.

If you would like to help, here are a few organizations you can contact:

One way to help is by donating to the Red Cross. All donations will provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those affected by the storm. To donate, visit http://www.redcross.org, call 800-Red-Cross or text the word “Redcross” to 90999 to make a $10 donation. Or http://www.redcross.org/Hurricane_Aid

The Salvation Army has dozens of mobile feeding units and shelters along the East Coast that are working to serve thousands in the most heavily hit areas. Visit http://www.salvationarmyusa.org to donate.

Feeding America has thousands of pounds of emergency food, water and supplies in the disaster zone that it is working to distribute to the storm’s victims. To donate, visit http://www.feedingamerica.org or call 800-910-5524.

AmeriCares is providing medicine and other supplies to people affected by Hurricane Sandy. To donate, visit http://www.americares.org.

World Vision is distributing flood clean-up kits, personal hygiene items and emergency food kits to people hit by the hurricane. To donate, visit http://www.worldvision.org.

Save the Children is also working to provide relief to families and their children. Visit http://www.savethechildren.org to donate.

Samaritan’s Purse is asking for volunteers to help storm victims. To volunteer, visit their website.

Don’t turn a blind eye to this tragedy because we never know when we just may need the help of strangers!
