Guilty on all counts….but

Standard

Jessie Dotson

Convicted Murder-Jessie Dotson

Jessie Dotson, the sole killer in the Lester Street Murders, was found guilty on 6 counts of first degree murder & guilty on 3 counts of attempted first degree murder. It took the jury 2 hours to find him guilty. Now 2 hours is that enough time to really go over all the evidence, talk amongst yourself, & discuss the case?

The Lester Street Murders (LST) case was two weeks long, hundreds of evidence shown, & a slue of witnesses. So can a jury really deliberate a high profile case of this magnitude in 2 hours?

The jury, even though they were chosen from a jury poll in Nashville, had to feel the pressure that someone [Jessie Dotson] had to go down for this heinous crime. With all that pressure and today being their first chance of talking to each other about the case, how in the hell did they talk about all the evidence, all the forensic science, all the witnesses, & most importantly how did they discuss the kids testimony in 2 hours? It’s impossible.

Yes 9 people are dead & yes they were killed in an atrocious manner, but their families deserve to put the real killer(s) in jail.

I really hope Jessie know he is going to get the strongest sentence that the judge can give him. The Judge believed he

was guilty from the start, so Jessie all I can tell you is to get right with the Lord.

Jessie definitely knows what happened in that house. Jessie definitely know who helped him kill his family; however, Jessie feel is safer for him to take the fall for these murders to save the lives of his remaining family.

The problem still stands in a high profile case, juries NEVER deliberates properly. Take your time & read your notes, review the evidence. They really could use a 6 Sigma Process: which would have helped them to identify & minimize [remove] any evidence that was a contradiction or varied from the actual physical evidence.   Nooooo they went on their own personal feelings & to see a baby stabbed & killed at tender ages will make anyone with a soul & heart convict, but was that the right thing to do?

There was plenty of doubt in this case but someone had to go down for it….so down Jessie went.

Do you really think a jury can be impartial & deliberate pertaining to the evidence.

Don’t Ask Don’t Tell….Shhhhhh

Standard

The Don’t Ask…Don’t Tell Policy of the military has struck again but this time a judge is not buying it. A federal judge has ordered that Major Margret Witt be reinstated back into the Air Force with her full rights. This comes after her dismal from the military due to the governments “don’t ask don’t tell” policy.

Major Witt was a 20 year flight nurse with an impeccable record and was a year from retiring when she was honorably discharged in 2007.

The “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy enacted in 1993 prevents gay men and lesbians from openly serving in the military and bars officials from inquiring into a service member’s sexuality. Maj. Witt, at the time of her dismal, was having a lesbian affair with a civilian. A spokesman for the Air force states that “Witt’s discharge was fully consistent with the law”.

The Air Force is disappointed in the ruling but holds hope of an appellate court understanding and siding with them for the betterment of the military interests.

“The application of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ to Major Margaret Witt does not significantly further the government’s interest in promoting military readiness, unit morale and cohesion,” he [Judge Leighton] wrote.

The debate of the don’t ask, don’t tell policy is an ongoing debate. Just this week the Senate temporarily set aside any discussions of repealing this legislation, but for now Maj. Witt has won a slight victory!

President Barack Obama is pushing for a repeal of the controversial policy. A bill that would overturn the measure after a Pentagon review is completed in December is currently before Congress.

More than 12,500 gays have been booted from the military since “don’t ask, don’t tell” went into effect.

Bishop Long Breaks his Silence

Standard

Everyone that has been paying attention to the news were waiting on Bishop Eddie Long, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, to hold his press conference on yesterday but it was cancelled due to a third allegation being levied against him. However, today he held a phone conference with a few of his parishioners & WGCL, an Atlanta news station was on the call as well.

The call was just a way for Bishop Long to reassure his followers that he is just as shocked as they are about the allegations that he had sexual relations with 3 former teenage boys that attended his mega church.

Long said he was in the middle of a battle.

“We will arise through this situation, and go forward, and we are moving forward,” Long said.

WGCL reports that Long said several times that he didn’t know who was on the call, so he had to be careful what he said because the case is in litigation. He also said he would not take any questions. With that his statements were methodical & well thought out to keep from saying something that could be used against him later in court.

Long ask the listeners to pray for his wife, his children, the church, and the accusers. He labeled himself [Long] a person that “always operate in the spirit of love.”

This story is long from over & will get uglier before its all over and done with…Just remember there is always two sides to every story & we need to pray for all involved especially the silent victims: Bishop Long wife & children and the accusers family.

Purple Drank

JaMarcus Russell

The news is buzzing from the recent arrest of NFL QB JaMarcus Russell for the possession of a controlled substance-codeine syrup. Just why would codeine syrup be a controlled substance you may ask? Codeine syrup is sold in cough syrup and most cold liquid medicine, so why was he arrested?

Purple drank, the street name, is a recreational drug that came onto the scene in the 1990s and made very popular by a Houston DJ, DJ Screw.  This drank quickly became a favorite among the rap scene and as we are quickly finding out, a favorite among NFL players.

The most popular type of codeine syrup is promethazine-codeine, a prescription cough syrup. The active ingredients are codeine, a narcotic, and the antihistamine medication promethazine. When taken in large quantities, both medications can lead to sedation and altered levels of consciousness. In lower doses, these potentiate the opiates.

Purple drank is a concoction of promethazine codeine syrup, Jolly Ranchers candy and 7-Up soda. In recent years, Purple drank has gained nationwide fame from being included in the smash hit “Sippin’ on Some Syrup” by  Three 6 Mafia, in Lil Wayne Duffle Bag Boy video he is seen paying homage to DJ Screw & have Purple Drank in his cup…but this dr[a]nk does not only appeal to male rappers but to female rappers as well. Nicki Minaj sings/raps about the Purple drank in her hit single “Mind on My Money“.

This is the new down low way to get high and those that drink Purple drank think they are not doing anything wrong since the ingredients are bought over the counter & even from a candy store; however, this is an illegal activity; hence the arrest of JaMarcus Russell.

Sol Searching does not endorse the use of illegal drugs. Children don’t be fooled this Purple drank is dangerous and you should SAY NO TO DRUGS. Do your research, the music industry has lost many to the drinking of this Purple syrup: Pimp C, DJ Screw, and several others.

Chris Brown? What do you think….

Standard

Ok, I wasn’t going to post about Chris Brown & his BET performance but I have to because it is so much buzz about his performance being a publicity stunt. Or was he really missing Michael? Now we all know the drama that has been following Chris Brown for over a year now, so need to talk about that. However, Chris was blackballed from the BET awards last year due to his [interactions] with Rihanna.

Chris Brown at the BET Awards ShowI truly believe that Chris was overwhelmed with emotions that he truly was unable to finish the song. You got to remember, he didn’t get a chance to give Michael a proper tribute because the Music Industry and others waged their pledge to Rihanna instead of staying neutral. Now a year later, a couple of days from Michaels death’aversary, Chris gets the opportunity to give his idol a proper tribute.

Now honestly, you had to feel his emotions! He was back at the BET Awards, his fans were screaming his name [something that was dwindling away from him], and he was dancing for MICHAEL.

Brown’s performance was one of the highlights of the night. He put his all into the dancing and the singing [lip-syncing]. He had to prove his value to his fans, the promoters, the record companies, and the world again.

He was losing ground with his fans & had already been banned from the United Kingdom so he had to put on a GREAT show.

What are you thoughts concerning Chris Brown? Do you think the media has drugged his name through the mud enough? Do you think since he is know known as a “woman beater” that he should be banned & lose all his endorsements and fans? When is enough enough?

The Chris Brown saga continues…but you can not deny he put his all into the BET Awards show.
